About the Library

The Faculty of Arts has a library located on the third floor of the central library building. It consists of two halls and is equipped with the necessary furniture, facilities, books, and scientific references. The library is regularly updated with new references in various faculty disciplines. In addition to study references related to the academic curriculum, which are distributed to students at the beginning of each semester, the library provides a suitable number of essential references and academic journals in all disciplines of the Faculty of Arts.

The Faculty of Arts Library is located on the third floor of the central library building and consists of two halls:

  • First Hall: Dedicated to the following departments:
    Library and Information Science, Media, Psychology, Philosophy, Sociology, Arabic Language, Theater Studies, Archaeology and Civilization, Geography, and History.
  • Second Hall: Includes the following departments:
    English Language, German Language, French Language, Italian Language, Spanish Language, Oriental Languages, Hebrew Language, and Chinese Language

Library Services
  1. Borrowing Service (Two types):
    • Internal borrowing: Users can read books and references within the library halls.
    • External borrowing: Authorized users can borrow books and scientific references outside the library and return them after the loan period.
  1. Inquiry Service:
    • Assisting users with questions on how to use the library and access its materials.
  1. Photocopying Service:
    • Allows users to photocopy selected sections of books, theses, journals, and references within the permitted regulations.
    • Photocopying hours: 9:30 AM – 2:00 PM.
    • Students must provide their details (name, year, department) and the book title, thesis, and page numbers for photocopying.
    • Users must register with the photocopying officer and wait for their turn.
    • Limit: Maximum 35 pages per book/thesis or 10% of the total pages (whichever is lower).
    • Daily limit: Up to three books/theses per user.
    • Fees: 10 piastres per book page, 20 piastres per thesis page.
  1. External Visit Service:
    • Visitors from outside Helwan University must pay a library access fee.
  1. Current Awareness Service:
    • Updates about new acquisitions and topics via the library’s official Facebook page.
  1. Library Email for Inquiries:
General Guidelines for Using the Faculty of Arts Library:
  • Entry requires a university ID or proof of enrollment.
  • Mobile phones must not be used inside the library hall.
  • Conversations are not allowed in the library hall.
  • Theses, references, and journals must remain inside the library.
  • Digital cameras and mobile phones cannot be used for photography.
  • A storage facility for personal belongings is available on the ground floor of the central library.
