The Establishment of the Program

The program of Inscriptions, Papyri, and Manuscripts is a program derived from the Department of Archaeology and Civilization at the Faculty of Arts, Helwan University. It was inaugurated by Ministerial Decree No. 2066 on 9/8/2023, and the study began in the academic year 2023/2024.

Our Mission

To contribute to the advancement of graduates to enable them to be qualified for the job market in Egypt and worldwide, in accordance with national standards that align with the systems, resources, and ethics of the educational and scientific research process.

Our Objectives

Integrating a number of interdisciplinary specializations to benefit from them in developing the outcomes of the educational and research process and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of community services for development and modernization.

Meeting the needs of the job market and society by providing distinguished scientific services through the program and directing scientific and research work to address gaps and solve community problems.

Highlighting new scientific and research aspects that contribute to improving community services.

Establishing a mechanism for continuous improvement in all elements of the educational process related to the programs at the faculty in general.

Additional Information

This program prepares students to work in various organizations and ministries, including:

  • Working in the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities as museum curators, antiquities inspectors, or in the field of restoration. It also includes working at Egyptian border crossings such as airports and seaports to detect smuggled antiquities and manuscripts, or in archaeological excavations, especially in reading or completing written texts.
  • Working in the Ministry of Culture in the heritage research centers, the National Library and Archives, and in the Manuscript Restoration department at the National Archives.
