About the Journal

The Journal of the Faculty of Arts, Helwan University is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published in Arabic. It specializes in the fields of social and human sciences. The first issue was published in 1996.

   The journal is concerned with publishing scientific research in the humanities across all disciplines encompassed by this field. Researchers from Egypt and other Arab countries contribute their studies in various specializations, all of which undergo rigorous and thorough scientific peer review by a distinguished group of Egyptian and non-Egyptian scholars from diverse Egyptian, Arab, and European universities and from a wide range of disciplines. Each submitted paper is reviewed by two experts in the specific field: one from within the educational institution and the other from an external Egyptian university or research center.

   The journal is published quarterly in January, April, July, and October. It emphasizes research in the humanities and languages at the faculty, aiming to keep pace with developments in scientific research across diverse branches of knowledge and disciplines.

    In December 2018, the journal established a profile on Google Scholar (short link: https://tinyurl.com/y79ejgm4) to enhance the discoverability of its articles and research online and to benefit from Google Scholar metrics for measuring the journal’s impact and visibility in intellectual production.

Objectives of the Journal:

The journal seeks to achieve several important objectives, including:

  1. Encouraging scientific research and keeping up with changes in humanities journals.
  2. Providing a platform for researchers to publish serious scientific studies across various disciplines.
  3. Focusing on contemporary issues and aligning with global changes in all fields of scientific research, while linking with Egyptian, Arab, and international databases to achieve a high impact locally, regionally, and internationally.
  4. Benefiting from the results of scientific research that address many vital issues relevant to community service.
  5. Promoting interdisciplinary studies among different branches of science as a new direction in advanced scientific research journals.
Journal Scope
1

Diversity in research that preserves the environment, addresses climate variables, resolves water issues, and combats desertification problems.

2

Community service practices in various fields such as education, clinical health, population issues, informal settlements, social guidance, arts and theater, media studies, and regional and international variables that influence or are influenced by these fields.

3

Translations to and from Arabic through various language departments.

4

Interdisciplinary studies, whether between different departments within the college or between college departments and certain specializations in other faculties.

5

Sustainable development in the humanities, with each discipline contributing according to its specialization.

Publication Rules

First: Publication Conditions

1

The journal publishes scientific research and studies, university theses, conference proceedings, research reports, and scientific reviews in the fields of social sciences, humanities, linguistics, and literature.

For research to be accepted by the journal, it is required that it be new, original, methodologically sound, and adhere to academic integrity. It must not have been previously published or submitted for publication to any other entity.

The researcher is fully responsible for the accuracy of the references used. The editorial board is not responsible for any plagiarism found in the research submitted for publication in the journal.

The views expressed in the research represent the author's point of view and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the editorial board, without any liability on the part of the journal. The manuscript will not be returned to its author, whether it is published or not accepted for publication.

It is not permissible to republish any research published in the journal in any form.

Secondly: Publication Procedures

The researcher must create an account on the journal's website, then log in and upload their research in two separate files: one containing the research's title page, and the other containing the research without the title page.

Research and studies are subject to a scientific peer-review process, where they are sent to two professors in the same field for a blind review, in which the reviewer does not see the name(s) of the researcher(s).

3

Research that does not adhere to the methodological principles of scientific writing will not be accepted.

4

If a reviewer reports the presence of "plagiarism" within the research, the paper will be rejected, and the researcher will not be refunded the review fees.

Thirdly: Publication Policies

The parts of the research paper should follow this order: Title Page, Abstract (in the language of the research and in English), Methodological Introduction, Results and Discussion, Figures, Tables, and Appendices.

The title of the research or study should be written in both Arabic and English and centered on the page. This should be followed by the name(s) of the researcher(s), their job title(s), their institutional affiliation(s), and their email address(es).

The research paper must be preceded by an abstract in the language of the paper and another in English (200-250 words each). The abstract must include the research objective, methodology, main findings, and key recommendations. This should be followed by 3-7 keywords in both the language of the paper and in English. Keywords are defined as the main terms or sub-topics addressed in the body of the research.

Citations and references must be prepared according to the American Psychological Association (APA) style for social science research, or the MLA style.

The order in which papers are published is determined by the journal's editorial considerations and is not related to the author's status or reputation.

Research papers must be prepared on numbered B5 pages (18.2 cm x 25.7 cm). The font for Arabic text should be Sakkal Majalla, size 16, and for foreign words, Times New Roman, size 14. The line spacing between paragraphs should be 1.0. The research must be characterized by originality and a scientific methodology.

The journal's issues are published electronically on the journal's website on the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB).

Fourth: Copyright Policy

Each researcher is granted a publication acceptance certificate once all required revisions and corrections, as determined by the peer review process, have been completed.

The journal provides the author of the published paper with a PDF copy of the journal issue in which the article appears.

Fifth: Journal Publication

1

The journal is issued semi-annually, with two issues published per year.

2

Special issues or thematic supplements may be released when necessary.

The journal is published in two parts: Part One: Social Sciences Part Two: Humanities

4

The journal reserves the right to publish accepted papers without referring back to the authors or obtaining their approval, without violating the authors’ intellectual property rights.

Should the author request a printed, certified copy of the journal, they must contact the journal’s secretariat to obtain it.

Sixth: Publication Fees

Egyptian Researchers: A fee of EGP 2,150 is required per article, to be paid in advance. This includes peer review and research fund fees. The fee covers up to 30 pages; an additional EGP 20 will be charged for each extra page.

2

International Researchers: A fee of USD 850 is required per article, also to be paid in advance. This includes peer review and research fund fees and must be paid before receiving the publication acceptance certificate.

Accepting constructive criticism from reviewers and making necessary revisions prior to publication.

Ensuring that peer review is confidential and anonymous to maintain neutrality and objectivity in the evaluation process.

Complying fully with the journal’s submission guidelines and publication requirements.
