The Department of Sociology
Message from the Head of the Department
It is my great pleasure to welcome you—on behalf of myself and my esteemed colleagues, the faculty members and teaching assistants of the Department of Sociology—to our department’s webpage. This platform serves as a gateway to introduce you to our department, share our academic mission, and open doors for communication with similar departments in local, regional, and international universities. Through this, we aim to strengthen ties, exchange expertise, and promote academic research.
The Department of Sociology is one of the most distinguished departments within the faculty. It was established to equip students with the knowledge and skills that align with the latest trends and requirements of higher education. To fulfill this goal, we have carefully reviewed and updated our academic programs in accordance with university regulations and ministerial guidelines. We also focus on integrating modern technology into the learning process and on fostering the professional development of our faculty members, ensuring a supportive environment that encourages academic excellence. Our aim is to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
The department offers a Bachelor’s degree in one of three specializations: Sociology, Anthropology and Folklore, or Population Studies and Family Planning. We are committed to enhancing students’ learning experiences, particularly through practical training. This includes fieldwork for students in both the General Sociology and Population Studies tracks, as well as academic excursions for students specializing in Anthropology.
Additionally, the department offers Master’s and PhD degrees in the same three fields, through an advanced graduate program based on the credit hour system. Our graduate curriculum is designed to keep pace with academic advancements and societal changes.
May success guide us all.

Prof. Dr. Eman Nasri
