The faculty members of the Department of Antiquities and Civilization are among Egypt’s finest scholars. They have all contributed to the development and academic advancement of the department. Their scientific and administrative expertise has played a significant role in the establishment of a new division within the department—the Ptolemaic and Roman Archaeology and Civilization division—as well as the introduction of a new academic program in Epigraphy, Inscriptions, and Papyrology. Thanks to their dedication and devotion, the department’s graduates have earned an excellent academic reputation. By the will of God, we stand united—hand in hand and heart to heart—to elevate the Department of Antiquities and Civilization into one of Egypt’s finest and most prestigious academic departments.
And God is the Arbiter of Success,,,
The Department of Archaeology was established two years after the founding of the Faculty of Arts (1997), and the department’s faculty members were initially assigned from the Department of History. The department is considered one of the unique departments in Egypt, as it includes a branch dedicated to the study of Ptolemaic and Roman archaeology in Egypt. This is a feature that distinguishes the Department of Archaeology in the Faculty of Arts at Helwan University.

The Department of Archaeology and Civilization aims to be a leader in the study of archaeology at both the local and international levels. The department also strives to prepare distinguished graduates who are capable of meeting the needs of the job market in the archaeological field within Egypt.
